Workshop Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Desiccant DryAir is an engineering/manufacturing company looking for a Workshop Engineer to join their busy team on a permanent basis.

We are looking for a Workshop Engineer (TIG Welding/Sheet Metal Worker) or similar to become a specialist in the production of bespoke Desiccant DryAir machines.

WORK SCHEDULE: 

5 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

REQUIREMENTS:

• at least 10-15 years of experience;
• TIG & MIG welding experience is essential;
• working with stainless steel and alloys;
• thin material welding skills starting from 0.9 mm;
• usage of fuse and fillet welding to a very high standard (extremely neat welding required as no finishing / dressing carried out);
• sheet metal work background in the fabrication industry;
• ability to create patterns based on their own knowledge i.e. square to round transitions etc.;
• modify machine components to make them fit;
• operate within a CNC workshop;
• ability to fabricate to a high standard with minimum supervision;

PERSONAL SKILLS:

• ensuring the standards of work are high (safety equipment worn, quality of output etc.);
• ability to read and work from Engineering drawings;
• flexibility;
• good attention to detail is vital;
• desire to learn new skills;
• ability to work effectively and efficiently within a team and on their own;
• good time keeping is essential;
• clean and tidy appearance;
• knowledge of English language.

TEST:

Selected applicants will be required to attend an initial interview and perform practical skills test, which will take place in Desiccant DryAir facility in Lancaster, UK.

Test description: Fuse and wire butt weld on 0.9, 1.2 and 2 mm stainless. Fillet weld, fuse and filler. You will also be given a drawing and expected to create a flat pattern out of 1 mm galvanized steel sheet.
