ROLE DETAILS

An exciting opportunity exists within the Engine Control and Calibration Department for an Engineer to work on Powertrain projects. The Powertrain Controls team have a varied workload of client projects covering passenger car, commercial vehicles and larger engines.

JOB DUTIES

To deliver client projects including work in the following areas:  

• Develop control systems for powertrain applications including: Gasoline, Diesel and CNG engines, Aftertreatment and OBD System development (electrical integration, sensors and actuators, communication interfaces);
• Control algorithm development;
• HiL, test rig and vehicle work;
• Calibration of Diesel and Gasoline powertrains;
• Delivery of tasks within time scale and budget;
• Work to  relevant software quality procedures and validation processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful applicant will have a sound engineering background. Experience of working on projects in a powertrain controls and electronic environment either in an OEM, Tier 1, consultant or research capacity would be advantageous.

Essential:

• Degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline;
• Strong knowledge of fundamental engineering principles related to Powertrain Development Fluent in a model-based development languages eg Matlab/Simulink;
• Evidence of planning and delivery of tasks within budget and within the scoped time to the customer’s satisfaction;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Able to be flexible on work location and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally on short assignments.

Preferred:

• Experience in powertrain control systems;
• Knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems (CAN, powertrain architectures, system interaction, OBD, ISO26262);
• Industry knowledge of powertrain systems;
• Analytical approach to developing engineering solutions in an automotive environment.
