We’re looking for a Chief Engineer to lead vehicle engineering projects, based at our Leamington Spa office. Typical projects include installing a new powertrain system into an existing vehicle, development of new vehicle platforms or chassis systems, or both. The role will be to coordinate and lead the successful delivery to the customer.

THE ROLE:

• Leading large multi-functional vehicle projects, normally in the order of £1m - £10m;
• Responsible for overall delivery, technical and commercial aspects accordingly;
• Assist with allocating and directing staff and allocating resources needed for the project;
• Support the commercial team in winning new business by supporting client meetings and presentations, compiling work scopes and resource requirements for proposals;
• Leading technical authority for the company in chosen area, shaping company position on subject, promotes excellence internally and externally

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:

• Have a degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline;
• A high standard of automotive technical knowledge;
• Ten (10) years related experience, including responsibility for engineering solutions from design to application;
• Experience seeking new business opportunities and converting into well defined and efficiently resourced proposals;
• Experience in project leadership and managing programs involving multiple disciplines and departments, without direct reports;
• Understanding of typical manufacturing processes;
• Ability to plan and deliver projects within budget and within the scoped time;
• Ability to train junior engineers;
• Have good interpersonal and communication skills;
• Drive and commitment to deliver technically challenging projects;
• Able to be flexible on work location and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally on short assignments;
• Solid knowledge of industry-standard legal and business language, including familiarity with contracts, NDAs, IP, payment terms, proposals, pricing, margins, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
